What is a Pellet?

Pellet, which means tablet, marble, lump, pellet, terminologically, is a type of fuel obtained from natural products and wastes such as sawdust, wood chips, bark, agricultural products, stalks of crops, hazelnuts, almonds, walnut shells, usually formed in small form, usually 6 or 10 mm in diameter and 10-50 mm in length, compressed.

High Energy

Wood pellets are 4 to 10 times more dense than the energy obtained by burning wood on a pole. This high density (650 kg/m3) allows for dense storage and convenient and cheap transportation over long distances.

Low Carbon Emissions

In producing 1 MWh of energy, natural gas emits 3 times, fuel oil 5 times and electric heating 10 times more CO2 to the atmosphere compared to pellet. Considering these values, pellet energy generation and pellet use create a very advantageous environment in terms of carbon use.

Low Ash

In addition, in terms of residue, the ash content of the pellet provides an advantage compared to the ash content of coal combustion (3 to 20 %) and the ash content of agricultural plants, grasses and residues (3 to 10 %).
